The Kässbohrer Geländefahrzeug AG , based in Laupheim produces and sells snow grooming vehicles and beach cleaning equipment worldwide under the PistenBully and BeachTech. It is the world market leader in both product segments.

The company Kässbohrer Geländefahrzeug AG was spun off from the former Kässbohrer Group in 1994 in the form of a management buy-out . The company was listed on the stock exchange from 1998 to 2015. In the 2009/2010 financial year (cut-off date: September 30), consolidated sales of around EUR 200 million exceeded the previous record from the previous year (EUR 195.4 million), contrary to all forecasts. The group result in relation to sales is again “unsatisfactory”. It is expected to remain below the 2008/2009 result (eight million euros).

The main business area with a turnover share of more than 90 percent is the development, manufacture as well as the sales and service of chain-driven all-terrain vehicles for the preparation of ski slopes and cross-country trails. Kässbohrer leads the market for ski slope vehicles, where it has a share between 65 and 70%. With the PistenBully brand snow groomers , the company has a world market share of over 50%.

The company goes back to the Ulm Kässbohrer vehicle works. The first PistenBully was manufactured there in 1969. When the Kässbohrer Group was dissolved, this profitable area was spun off in the mid-1990s. By 2009, a total of 17,000 vehicles had rolled off the assembly line. The main customers are mainly in Austria.

The company sold 640 PistenBullys in 2009/2010. So far, deliveries have been made to 68 countries, including Azerbaijan for the first time in 2009/2010 .

BeachTech

BeachTech has been an independent product area for beach cleaning equipment in Kässbohrer Geländefahrzeug AG since 1991 . BeachTech technology is now the leader in the beach cleaning sector with a global market share of over 50%. Five models with different working widths and collection volumes are offered and are mainly used by municipalities, hotels and service companies for different beach sizes, types of pollution and sand. BeachTech is also used in the event of environmental pollution such as oil disasters to free the beaches from clumps of tar. After the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010 , BP had 30 vehicles flown in from Laupheim.

Beach cleaning machines are used to remove all kinds of litter from the beaches. These are objects washed up by the sea, such as B. seaweed, flotsam, mussels, but also waste that is dumped into the sea by shipping and washed ashore as well as the legacies of beach visitors.

BeachTech cleans different types of sand according to a patented concept of raking, sieving and mixing technology. This system offers the possibility to switch from one cleaning technique to the other non-stop and without interruption or to use both at the same time. The driver can do this as required, i. H. Sand conditions, choose individually. Even very small dirt particles such as cigarette ends, broken glass, can closures and seaweed can be removed in this way. The dirty sand is combed through in one operation, impurities are sifted out and transported to an integrated collection container. The unloading then takes place at a suitable point on the beach or directly into a truck or container .

Powerbully

By taking over the American manufacturer Soft track supply in 2014, the company also offers special vehicles for work and transport assignments in difficult terrain.

Flexmobil

With the Flexmobil brand , the corporation entered the niche market of special vehicles for work and transport assignments in rough terrain. The business segment is no longer being processed.

The Merckle family has held 89.1% of the shares through LuMe Vermögensverwaltung GmbH since they took over the 37.5 percent stake in Kreissparkasse Biberach in July 2006 . 10.9 percent of the shares are in free float. Adolf Merckle had been a member of the Supervisory Board since November 1, 1999 and Deputy Chairman since November 19, 1999. The chairman until January 2009 was his son Ludwig Merckle . A squeeze-out took place in 2015 and the company was taken off the stock exchange after the retail investors had received a settlement.
