Ludwig Merckle (born June 8, 1965 in Hamburg ) is a German entrepreneur .

Life

Ludwig Merckle is the eldest son of Ruth and Adolf Merckle , married to his wife Ursula and the father of two children. He studied business informatics at the University of Mannheim and succeeded his father Adolf Merckle in the Merckle group of companies in 1997 , initially as head of the Merckle / Ratiopharm group , and later as managing director of the holding company. In May 2009, Ludwig Merckle accepted the sole inheritance from his late father in order to enable the restructuring and debt relief of the Merckle group of companies.

According to the 2015 Forbes Billionaires List , Merckle's net worth was approximately $ 4.6 billion. This puts him in 352th place on the list of the richest people in the world.
