Cologne College (2008)

The Cologne College (abbreviated KöKo ) is an institution of second-chance education for obtaining the general- or technical college in Cologne-Deutz . In cooperation with the evening grammar school in Cologne , the Cologne College also offers parents and students with atypical working hours specially tailored educational opportunities in the so-called AbiVor area.

history

The Cologne College was founded on April 13, 1959 by the City of Cologne. The approximately 550 students, who are looked after by 56 teachers, use the educational offerings of the Cologne College. In addition to a library adapted to the needs of the students and subject-specific media rooms, there is an in-house cafeteria.

Conditions for registration

Training at the KöKo can be started in both the summer and winter semesters. The prerequisite is a minimum age of 18 years and a completed vocational training or two years of professional activity. The students receive state funding according to the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG). This is granted independently of parents and is not repayable.

Prospective students with children or relatives in need of care in the household are divided into the “AbiVor” area. Separate admission conditions apply for this.

Support association

The development association Association of Friends and Patrons of Cologne College eV was founded on 7 June 1971 by 11 graduates.
