Cologne classical ensemble

The Cologne Classical Ensemble was founded in 2003 by students from the Cologne University of Music . The founder and artistic director of the ensemble has been Tobias Kendung since then . The years from 2003 to 2006 were marked by the first line-up, which was quite unusual with three violins , viola , cello , double bass , guitar and piano . Above all, the recordings with classical arrangements of Astor Piazzolla's music, published by Sony Classical Records in 2008 , became famous. Today the Cologne Classical Ensemble is by its own admission a platform for chamber music in various formations. Prominent members are the artistic director Tobias Kendung, the musical director Alexander Prushinskiy and the double bass player Prof. Stanislav Anischenko . They also form the Astor Trio , the best-known ensemble within the group. In addition, the Arisva string quartet performs with Alexander Prushinskiy (1st violin), Svetlana Shtraub (2nd violin), Aliaksandr Senazhenski ( viola ) and Risto Rajakorpi (cello). And the duo Lena Kravets and Tobias Kendung in the rare combination of violoncello and guitar.
