The König-Friedrich-August-Turm is a 25 m high observation tower at 305  m above sea level. NN high Schillerhöhe in the north of the Saxon city ​​of Geringswalde . It is named after King Friedrich August III. of Saxony.

It was inaugurated on August 31, 1907 on the occasion of the city's 675th anniversary. A staircase with 128 steps leads up to the viewing platform, which was temporarily used by the fire brigade as a fire and theft monitoring post when there was a risk of forest fires in order to monitor the areas up to Augustusburg , the Erzgebirgskamm and the Völkerschlachtdenkmal in Leipzig .

It was renovated from 1991–1992 with funding of 304,000 DM and re-inaugurated on August 1, 1992 with the symbolic handover of the keys to the tower warden Manfred Kaiser.

In 2018, due to weather damage to the facade and the necessary reinforcement of the stairs inside, another renovation was planned for over € 200,000.

The Geringswalder Funkclub eV as the leaseholder enables an ascent of the tower by appointment .
