King (card game)

König (Turkish: Rifki , French: Le jeu du roi , English and Italian: King ) is a card game that is related to Barbu and incorporates the basic rules of the simpler games Herzeln and Kein Stich . It is mainly played in France , Belgium and Italy . But it is also known in parts of Portugal , Russia , Turkey , Colombia and Brazil . The rules of the game are different in the individual countries.

Rules of the game

The game is played with four players and a set of 52 cards in French colors .

French variant

The sequence of values ​​is descending from Ace to Two. Four players play against each other. It is played in ten rounds, each round has its own rules (contracts). There is no trump suit in the first six rounds .

Rules (contracts) per round:

  1. Each trick counts minus two points for the winner. In total there is minus 26 points. (13 stitches per round.)
  2. Each heart counts minus two points. In total, minus 26 points are also possible. Hearts may only be placed like normal colors once a heart has been discarded by a player because he could not specify the color placed.
  3. The four kings and four jacks each count minus six points. This round distributes a total of minus 48 points.
  4. Each queen counts minus ten points. A total of minus 40 points are awarded in this round.
  5. The King of Hearts is minus forty points. Hearts may only be placed like normal colors once a heart has been discarded by a player because he could not specify the color placed.
  6. The last trick counts minus twenty points.
  7. Each trick gives the winner plus four points. Cross is trump suit.
  8. Each trick is worth four points. Diamonds are trumps.
  9. Each trick is worth four points. Heart is trump suit.
  10. Each trick is worth four points. Spades is a trump suit.

The winner is the player with the highest score after these ten rounds.

Brazilian variant

The sequence of values ​​is also descending from ace to two. As in the French variant, ten rounds are played.

Rules (contracts) per round:

  1. Each trick counts minus 20 points. In total, minus 260 points are awarded.
  2. Each heart counts minus 20 points. In total, minus 260 points are awarded. A player may not start a trick with any heart card if he still has other colors in his hand.
  3. Each king and jack is worth minus 30 points. In total, minus 240 points are awarded.
  4. Each queen counts minus 50 points. In total, minus 200 points are awarded.
  5. The king of hearts counts minus 160 points. A player may not start a trick with any heart card if he still has other colors in his hand. The king of hearts must be discarded at the first opportunity.
  6. The penultimate and the last trick cost minus 90 points.
  7. to 10. Each trick is worth 25 points. The player who is dealing determines the trump suit for the round.
