Royal Esther
The ' Royal Esther' is a new red wine cultivated in Hungary and is mainly used as a table grape .
This grape variety is a cross between 'Eger 2' × 'Magaracsi Esemege' by Sandor Szegedi. Due to its earlier maturity, this fungus-resistant variety is also suitable for cultivation in somewhat harsher climates ( Northern Germany , higher altitudes, shading, etc.), but there should be protection from the wind.
The Royal Esther has large, dark blue, crunchy berries with an excellent, mild, fruity, sweet taste , it is described as being particularly low in seeds and has a thin fruit skin.
This variety is particularly suitable for fresh consumption and for making juice, it is less suitable for making wine .
Special feature: 'Royal Esther®' is a protected grape variety and may only be propagated for commercial purposes by recognized maintenance breeders.
Synonyms: 'Esther', 'Eszter', 'R.65'
Parentage: 'Eger 2' × 'Magaracsi Esemege'. 'Eger 2' is an openly flaked seedling of the ' Villard Blanc ' variety .
