The Königsbach is a right tributary of the Ecker in the Harz district of Saxony-Anhalt in the Harz Mountains .
It rises in the Goethemoor located between the Brocken and its secondary summit, Königsberg , from there flows down into the valley to the west, taking in a few tributaries, and then flows into the Ecker on the border with Lower Saxony .
In the 17th century there were disputes about the source of the Königsbach, which the Braunschweig side equated with the Eckerquelle in order to claim part of the county of Wernigerode . Until after the end of the Second World War, the border line in the upper course of the Königsbach was different from today.
