Rebecca Sugar (* 9 July 1987 in Silver Spring , Maryland ) is American nationality and Zeichentrickfilmerin and composer made famous in 2010 as a screenwriter and storyboard draughtswomen the animated television series Adventure Time - Adventure Time with Finn and Jake . Sugar is the creator of the animated series Steven Universe (from 2013).

Life

Rebecca Sugar grew up in Silver Spring , Maryland , and attended the Visual Arts Center at Einstein High in Maryland alongside high school . She received her artistic training at the School of Visual Arts in New York.

Her first job was as a storyboard revisionist for the first season of Adventure Time , and she was promoted to storyboard draftsman for the second season. For her work as an illustrator and screenwriter for Adventure Time , she was nominated for an Emmy in 2011 and 2013 and an Annie Award in 2012 . In 2012 Forbes Magazine listed her as "many of the best episodes" of Adventure Time for her authorship of " 30 Hollywood Leaders Under 30".

In 2013, Sugar left the Adventure Time crew to become the first woman to be the creator and showrunner of a Cartoon Network animated series: Steven Universe . Both series were also published in German.

Sugar is bisexual and identifies as a non-binary woman, which she expresses through numerous LGBT references in Steven Universe . On her Twitter account, Sugar explains that she wants to be referred to with both the feminine and the singular pronoun they .
