Königshof is a district of Krefeld in the Fischeln district .
Geography and history
Königshof is located between the center of Fischeln and the southern district of Krefeld. The boundaries are given by the statistical districts Königshof and Königshof West: in the north by the Untergath / Obergath street, in the east by the K-Bahn route , in the south by Hafelsstraße / Kimplerstraße and in the east by Mühlenfeld. Kölner Straße divides the district in two halves.
The name was taken over from the inn in Groß-Beeckerhof, which was nicknamed the Königshof and still exists today as the Korff restaurant:. Königshof was part of the independent municipality of Fischeln until it was incorporated in 1929.
Education and culture
There are various sports facilities and the Maria-Sybilla-Merian-Gymnasium on the Königshofer Wiese. The Königshof Catholic Primary School is located on Oberbruchstrasse, which is already part of Niederbruch.
Königshof belongs to the Catholic parish Herz-Jesu Königshof with the church Kneinstraße and to the Markus district of the Evangelical parish Krefeld-Süd with the church on Kölner Straße.
Economy and Transport
The Königshof brewery is located in Königshof and produces various types of beer under the name of the district. The most important road connections are Untergath / Obergath (Südtangente) in an east-west direction with a motorway connection at both ends and Kölner Straße, which leads to the center of Krefeld in the north and to Fischeln in the south. It is used by tram line 041. In addition, the U76 (" K-Bahn ") light rail line serves Königshof with the stop of the same name.
