The Körbersee is located southwest of the Hochtannberg Pass in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg in the municipality of Schröcken . It is located in the Lechquellen Mountains at an altitude of 1654 m above sea level. A. and can only be reached on foot.
With an area of around three hectares , it is a smaller lake in Vorarlberg, but it stands out for its excellent drinking water quality . The lake offers fish such as trout and the rare plants on the banks a protected habitat. There is a hotel in the vicinity of the lake. Bathing is not forbidden, but the water is quite cool.
A few meters east of the Körbersee is another small mountain lake, the Kalbelesee . The entire lake area is under nature protection and is shown in the Vorarlberg biotope inventory as a biotope worth protecting.
Around 125 m north of the Körbersee there is a two-person chair lift that leads to the Falkenkopf ( Falken ski swing ).
The Körbersee was voted the most beautiful place in Austria in 2017. In the program 9 Places - 9 Treasures , the ORF viewers voted for this place chosen by the ORF Landesstudio Vorarlberg in a preliminary round and proposed in the final. This is the second time that Vorarlberg has won this competition, which has been run by ORF for 4 years.
