The Kalbelesee is a natural high mountain lake on the Hochtannbergpass in the municipality of Warth in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg . As an alpine lake, Kalbelesee is located a few meters from the Bregenzerwaldstrasse between Schröcken and Warth, which runs over the Hochtannbergpass, at around 1,653 m above sea level. A. and is a popular destination.
The lake has an area of approx. 2.4 hectares and a maximum water depth of approx. 4.5 meters. Another small alpine lake is located a few meters southwest of Kalbelsee, the Körbersee .
flora
The Kalbelesee is designated as a biotope worthy of protection in the Vorarlberg biotope inventory . The endangered long-leaved pondweed , the moss Calliergon giganteum and chandelier algae ( Chara sp) grow in the lake . An extensive beak-sedge (Caricetum rostratae) grows on its bank . There are also moors dominated by the turf rush . There are also stiff sedges , brown sedges , mud sedges and Davall's sedge .
