Köse Bahir Mustafa Pasha

Köse Bahir Mustafa Pascha , also Çorlulu Köse Bahir Mustafa Pascha , (* 17th or 18th century in Çorlu ; † July 23, 1765 in Midilli ) was an Ottoman statesman and grand vizier of the Ottoman Empire . His nickname Köse means beardless in German . It is also known by the nickname Çorlulu , which reminds of his hometown Çorlu. Before taking up his post as Grand Vizier he was Mirahur ("Supreme Stallmeister"). He also served as governor of Egypt for four years .

Life

Bahir Mustafa was born in Çorlu as the son of the Turkish Sofu Abdurrahman Pascha. In 1746 he became the deputy of the supreme stable master ( mîrâhûr-ı sânî ), in 1750 he became the supreme stable master ( mîrâhûr-ı evvel ).

On July 1, 1752 he was appointed Grand Vizier by Sultan Mahmut I. When Mahmut I. died on December 14, 1974, the new Sultan Osman III dismissed . Köse Bahir Mustafa Pasha on February 17, 1755 and appointed Hekimoğlu Ali Pasha as his successor. He was exiled to Midilli ( Lesbos ) and later went to Morea .

On April 30, 1756 Bahir Mustafa Pascha was again appointed Grand Vizier, but released again on December 3, 1756 and exiled to Rhodes . The new Grand Vizier Koca Ragıp Pascha was a good friend of Köse Bahir Pascha and helped him to offices in Midilli and Eğriboz . On June 11, 1758 he was appointed provincial governor of Egypt and was there until 1762 in office. When he was about to be appointed governor of Aleppo, he refused to leave for Ottoman Syria.

On November 1, 1763, Mustafa III appointed him . again to the Grand Vizier. However, in 1765 he was charged with corruption and released on March 30, 1765. His successor was Muhsinzade Mehmed Pascha . On July 23, he was executed in Midilli.
