K-300 Bastion ( GRAU index 3K55 , NATO code name : SSC-5 "Stooge" ) is a missile system for coastal defense that is equipped with the anti-ship missile SS-N-26 Strobile . The Belarusian company Tekhnosoyuzproekt was involved in the development.

The missile system was designed to combat warships of various classes and types, marine infantry units, ship convoys of all types (including aircraft carrier units) and other hostile targets that have electronic jammers and strong air defenses, among other things. The public became particularly aware of the "3K55" missile system in the course of the Crimean crisis in March 2014 after the Russian armed forces set up some vehicles with transport and launch containers in a combat-ready condition on the peninsula.

Modifications

  • Bastion-P : mobile version of the missile system on the MZKT-7930 chassis.
  • Bastion-S : stationary version in missile silos , which should be ready for use by 2020 for the first time. In addition, the system could have drones and buoyant hydroacoustic stations.

Components of the "Bastion-P" mobile missile system with regard to export are listed below:

  • Missile SS-N-26 Strobile
  • Vehicles with the transport or launch containers (for the rockets) on the MAZ-7930 chassis with a crew of 3 men
  • The command center vehicle on the chassis of the KamAZ-4310 1 or MAZ-65273 , each with a crew of 4
  • Additional command staff with equipment of the computing unit and information processing with automatic control system
  • Additional service vehicles:
    • Transport or loading vehicles with additional missiles
    • Vehicles with the technical guarantee of operational readiness
    • Training complex for training the staff
    • Helicopters with an additional target acquisition system, and an additional radar called “Monolith-B” can be added to the missile complex

A "Bastion-P" battery in the standard version consists of the following components:

  • 4 vehicles each with 2 transport or launch containers and the associated missiles and a crew of 3 men each
  • 1-2 vehicles of the command center with a crew of 5 men
  • 1 vehicle of the technical guarantee of operational readiness
  • 4 transport or loading vehicles with additional missiles

Technical specifications

The following data refer to the "Bastion-P" version:

  • The maximum number of rockets in a system is 24 (12 transport or launch containers with 2 rockets each).
  • Interval for a rocket volley (between the first and second rocket) from 1 vehicle with transport or launch containers is a maximum of 2.5 seconds.
  • The time until combat readiness from transport mode is a maximum of 5 minutes.
  • The time of the uninterrupted autonomous combat readiness with the vehicle of the command center, without further external service vehicles, is 30 days.
  • The guaranteed service life is 10 years.
  • The deployment radius of the missile system is at least 600 km.

    A "3K55" unit in the "Bastion-P" version consists of 4 transport or launch vehicles, which u. a. are deployed as follows:
    Black Sea Fleet : At least three "3K55" units, which u. a. are deployed within the 11th Coast Guard Artillery Brigade near the city of Anapa and the 15th Artillery Brigade in Sevastopol . The unit from Sevastopol was brought to Syria in 2016, the void of which was closed by another unit.
    Russian Pacific Fleet : At least three "3K55" units within the 18th artillery division on the island of Iturup in the Kuril archipelago, in the Primorye region , and the 520th separate missile and artillery brigade on the Kamchatka peninsula in Yelisovsky rajon.
    Northern Fleet : At least two "3K55" units, u. a. on the Kotelny Island .
    Baltic Fleet : At least one “3K55” unit in Kaliningrad Oblast .
    Tartus Naval Base : At least one "3K55" unit.
  • SyriaSyria Syria - A maximum of two "3K55" units are in service as of December 2011.
  • VietnamVietnam Vietnam - At least two "3K55" units are in service as of October 2011.
