The KB Hallen was a multi-purpose hall in Frederiksberg , Hovedstaden region , in the greater area of the Danish capital Copenhagen . The owner was and is the sports club Kjøbenhavns Boldklub (KB).
history
The KB Hallen was completed in 1938 and inaugurated by the Danish King Christian X. At the time it was the largest private sports facility in Europe. The arena was mainly used for badminton , tennis , basketball and volleyball . The arena, which held 3,000 visitors for concerts, was also an important stage for international artists to perform in Denmark. The Beatles and Eric Clapton played some of their first concerts in Denmark in the KB Hallen. On September 28, 2011, the arena was completely destroyed after a fire. According to reports, a cable fire or a kiosk in the building are responsible. The cause of the accident remained unclear. The company Christensen & Co was commissioned in 2016 to build a new hall based on the model of the original event arena. The new opening should take place in 2018.
