K. Shankar

K. Shankar ( Kunnesseri Shankar , Tamil கே. சங்கர் ; born March 17 or July 15, 1926 in Malabar , Kerala ; † March 6, 2006 in Chennai , Tamil Nadu ) was an Indian film director .

Life

Shankar came into contact with the film industry in 1939 and worked alongside his training in the editing departments of Central Studios and Pakshiraj Studios in Coimbatore . In 1947 he was hired by AV Meiyappan's newly founded AVM Film Company in Chennai and initially worked as an assistant in film editing and then as an editor. He made his directorial debut with the film Doctor in Sinhala . He has made over 80 films in Sinhala, Tamil , Hindi , Malayalam and Telugu . He worked with actors such as NT Rama Rao , MG Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa . Shankar died of a heart attack at the age of nearly 80.
