K2 Sports is a company founded in 1961 as K2 Inc. on Vashon Island , near Seattle , which manufactures skis , inline skates , snowboards and mountain bikes .

The company's headquarters are in Seattle, Washington. K2 is considered a pioneer of fiberglass skis . These skis are lighter and can withstand higher loads than those made of wood or metal. Since 2001, its products have been made in China . In 2003 the company was renamed K2 Sports.
