K5 (band)

K5 is an EDM project by the American music producer Kevin Shiver. With the song Passion K5 achieved a chart success in the Billboard Hot 100 in the late 1990s and in the German music charts in the early 2000s .

history

K5 was founded in 1995 by Kevin Shiver. The name K5 is made up of the first letter of his first name K, as well as the 5, which was taken from Shiver's previous music project Project 5 . The first song, Passion , which was written and produced by Shiver in 1995 and in which Tammy Wright contributed the vocals , was first released on record in 1996 . After recording Passion , Wright left the project. Since, according to their own statements, this record has sold over 8,000 times, K5 received offers from record companies for a single release. Passion was placed on the Billboard Hot 100 on February 8, 1997 . The song spent a total of 3 weeks in these charts, with the highest position reaching number 98. After the song was played in various clubs in Germany and thus gained fame in this music scene, Universal Music decided to publish a single in Germany and to record it of a music video. This was recorded in Miami in 2001, but Wright was no longer the singer in this video, as she had long since left this project. As a result, Passion entered the German single charts four years after its release. Number 53 represents the highest position for the single in these charts, and Passion spent a total of 6 weeks in the German single charts. The second single, Lift You Up , was released in 1997, but could not place in any single charts. It was followed by some releases on vinyl, but no more single releases. Today Shiver continues to work as a music producer and DJ.
