KFBK is a clear channel station in Sacramento , California . It belongs to the group of talk / news stations from iHeartMedia and takes over many important program parts from its Premiere Networks .
The KFBK signal reaches all of Northern California from the Sacramento Valley to the San Francisco Bay Area . At night, the western half of the USA is covered. Due to its license class as an “IB” station, the station shares “Class A status” on the MW 1530 kHz frequency with the east coast station WCKY in Cincinnati , Ohio . The program is broadcast simultaneously via the FM sister station KFBK-FM on 93.1 MHz.
The far-reaching right-wing conservative presenter Rush Limbaugh started his career at KFBK in 1984 with his first talk show . However, he moved to ABC Radio in 1988 and is now under contract with Premiere Networks. Limbaugh's program still runs in the same time slot on KFBK as it did then (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.); likewise the broadcast of Thomas M. Sullivan .
history
Founded in 1922, the station was sold to Westinghouse Broadcasting in the 1970s and became an affiliate of ABC Radio. In the early 1980s, KFBK was able to sign the then famous Morton Downey, Jr. for the lunch break. He was replaced by Rush Limbaugh in 1984.
Tom Sullivan , who also broadcasts across the US , also started at KFBK.
By lifting the ownership restrictions, iHeartMedia took over the station in the 1990s, as well as the VHF station KFBK-FM and a number of other radio stations on the radio market.
