The KFVS transmission mast (also called Raycom America Tower Cape Girardeau ) is a 511.1 meter high transmission mast for the programs of the local television company KFVS near Cape Girardeau (Missouri) in the USA . It belongs to the US media company Raycom Media .
The transmission mast was built in 1960 to broadcast television programs that can be received not only in Missouri , but also in parts of Illinois , Kentucky , Tennessee and Arkansas due to the enormous height of the transmission mast .
At the time of its completion, the mast was the tallest structure on earth and at the same time the first to be higher than 500 meters.
