The DG 1100 BBM is a diesel locomotive from the manufacturer Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz (KHD) from the 1968 model range. The four-axle vehicle was the last locomotive produced by the manufacturer. The only example of this type was built in 1970 for the Klöckner Hütte Bremen . In 1982 the locomotive came to the Westfälische Landes-Eisenbahn and was used here for several years. The locomotive was sold to a company in Switzerland in 2015 and was still available in 2019.

history

In 1970 this locomotive from the 1968 model range was the last built locomotive to be delivered by the manufacturer KHD. The designation DG 1100 BBM meant: D rehgestelllokomotive with G elenkwellenantrieb, 1100 hp engine power, BB B = B ' and the execution with center cab.

The locomotive first came to the Klöckner Hütte Bremen under the designation D104 and was in service there until the early 1980s.

WLE VL 0640

It was then sold to the Westfälische Landes-Eisenbahn and was given the designation VL 0640 there . The locomotive stayed with the WLE for over 20 years and was given the NVR number 98 80 0423 004-1 D-WLE in the German vehicle registration register in 2007 . The locomotive last had the number 40 and the name Warstein .

In 2015, the single item was sold to Tensol Rail SA in Switzerland and now bears the NVR number 98 85 5 847 834-9 CH-TRGTI .

technical description

The locomotive, which was built in 1970, belonged to a series of three types from the KHD type program from 1968. The electronic control of diesel engines, which was ready for series production at the end of the 1960s, prompted the company to set up a new program.

The feature of the locomotive is a machine system and therefore two stems of different lengths. While the stems had a small bevel in their original form, they were later given straight stems.

The twelve-cylinder two-stroke diesel engine gave his force to a fluid transmission from Voith off, he was with its rated speed of 750 / min, a slow runner . The engine was electronically controlled.

During the main inspection in 1992, the locomotive was fitted with a sixteen-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine from Caterpillar , which also delivered an output of 1,100 hp (809 kW). This engine was a fast runner . In 2002, this engine was exchanged again for an eight-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine from the same manufacturer with almost the same output, also a fast runner. The gearbox was not changed during this work. Compared to the locomotives of the 1959 type program, bogies with technical improvements were used.
