Sergei Wassiljewitsch Schelpakow
Sergei Wassiljewitsch Schelpakow (Russian Сергей Васильевич Шелпаков; born September 18, 1956 in Issilkul ) is a former Soviet cyclist and Olympic champion in cycling .
Athletic career
His international career began by winning the 1974 European Junior Championships in Poland when he won the team time trial with the Soviet selection. In 1980 he won the gold medal in the team time trial at the Summer Olympics in Moscow with Juri Alexejewitsch Kaschirin , Oleg Nikolajewitsch Logwin and Anatoly Nikolajewitsch Jarkin . In 1983 he finished the USSR Tour in 8th place, this was his last relevant race result. Schelpakow started for the Burewestnik Omsk association .
