Claudio Vandelli

Claudio Vandelli (born July 27, 1961 in Modena ) is a former Italian cyclist and Olympic champion in cycling .

Athletic career

1984 was the year of his greatest success. At the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles , he won the team time trial title together with Marcello Bartalini , Marco Giovanetti and Eros Poli . In the same year he won the Amateurs Tour of Emilia. A year later he won bronze at the UCI Road World Championships , also in the team time trial. After the world championship he became a professional driver and drove for various Italian teams until 1989, but without winning a road race. In 1989 he won the Italian championship in cyclo-cross racing . He drove twice in the Giro d'Italia , the 50th place in 1987 was his best result in the tour.

He ended his career at the end of 1989, but later returned as a cross-country rider and in 1996 was again third in the national championship.
