Livio Trapè
Livio Trapè (born May 26, 1937 in Montefiascone ) is a former Italian cyclist who won two Olympic medals in 1960.
After 1960 Italian champion of amateurs in the road race had become Trapè was considered one of the great hopes of the hosts at the Olympic Games in Rome.
In the 100 km team event, which was held for the first time, he drove together with Antonio Bailetti , Ottavio Cogliati and Giacomo Fornoni . The Italian four-man won in 2: 14: 33.53 hours with almost two and a half minutes ahead of the team from East Germany around Täve Schur and over four minutes ahead of the Soviet team around Viktor Kapitonow .
Four days after the team time trial, the individual road race took place over twelve laps on a circuit of 14.615 km per lap. Start and finish were on the Via Flaminia . After eight laps Kapitonow and Trapè broke away from the leading group and gained a lead of two and a half minutes. Shortly before the end of the eleventh lap, Kapitonow sprinted and crossed the finish line cheering; It was only when Trapè drove past him that Kapitonov realized that he had been happy one lap too early. Trapè tried to save his lead to the finish, but Kapitonow slowly came up again and won after 4:20:37 hours with a tire width of Trapè. As an amateur, he started for the CS Serrande de Nardi club .
Trapè turned professional after the Olympics . He won a small tour in 1961 and came second in the Lombardy tour in 1962 . He did not achieve major victories, in 1964 he fell at the Giro d'Italia , in 1966 he finished 45th in the Vuelta a España .
After his career he opened a perfume shop in Montefiasconi and Orvieto , as well as a company for used cars.
