Giacomo Fornoni

Giacomo Fornoni (born December 26, 1939 in Gromo , † September 26, 2016 in Rogeno ) was an Italian cyclist and Olympic champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Fornoni's greatest success was winning the gold medal at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome in the team time trial . The following year he became a professional driver in the Italian team Molteni , in which he was active until the end of his career in 1969. In his first year as a professional, he and his teammate Battista Babini finished second in the Trofeo Baracchi . In 1974 he was able to win the pair time trial with Gianni Motta as a partner. He contested the Giro d'Italia four times, and in 1965 , 51st place was his best result. The Tour de France , he finished also in 1965 than 90. In 1964, he was at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in the individual pursuit in fourth.

Professional

After the end of his career, he and his wife took over a restaurant in Merone .
