Antonio Bailetti (born September 29, 1937 in Bosco di Nanto, Vicenza ) is an Italian cyclist and Olympic champion in cycling .

Athletic career

He achieved his greatest success at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome when he and his teammates Cogliati , Giacomo Fornoni and Livio Trape became Olympic champions in the team time trial . He finished the Olympic road race in 10th place. The following season he became a professional driver in the Bianchi team . He remained a professional driver until 1969 and then ended his career in which he was able to achieve 18 victories. These included two stage wins at the Tour de France ( 1962 and 1963 ) and two stage wins at the Giro d'Italia (also 1962 and 1963 ). He competed five times at the Giro d'Italia, 39th place in 1962 was his best result. At his two starts in the Tour de France, 55th place in 1963 was his better result. His best result in one of the classic one-day races was 10th place at Milan-Sanremo in 1962, after he had recently won the race from Nice to Genoa . At the UCI Road World Championships in 1962 , he was 33.
