Oleg Nikolayevich Logwin

Oleg Nikolajewitsch Logwin (Russian Олег Николаевич Логвин; born May 23, 1959 in Minsk ) is a former Soviet cyclist and Olympic champion in cycling .

Athletic career

By winning the silver medal at the UCI World Championships of the juniors in 1977 in Austria in the team time trial he first came out internationally. In 1980 he won the Lower Saxony Tour and was Olympic champion in the team time trial in August with the selection of the Soviet Union (with Yuri Alexejewitsch Kaschirin , Anatoli Nikolajewitsch Jarkin and Sergei Wassiljewitsch Schelpakow ). A year later he won silver in this discipline at the UCI Road World Championships , followed by a bronze medal in 1982. In May he finished 13th in the International Peace Tour (1984 he came in 24th). Logwin won stages in various tours, such as the British Milk Race , the Tour of Colombia and the Tour of Holland . In 1984 he was the Soviet runner-up in road racing . In his time as an amateur, he started for the Trud Minsk club.

From 1989 to 1992 he was a professional driver with contracts in Italy , Russia and Portugal . He won three races as a professional.
