Axel Wilhelm Persson (born January 23, 1888 in Eskilstuna , † September 2, 1955 in Västerhaninge ) was a Swedish cyclist .

Axel Persson was active as an amateur cyclist from around 1910 to 1920. During these years he was Swedish champion nine times in the sprint , individual time trial and team time trial disciplines . In 1914 he also won the important Swedish road race around Mälaren . In 1919 he was also the Scandinavian champion in the individual time trial.

Twice, in 1912 and 1920, Persson took part in the Olympic Games : in 1912 in Stockholm he was ninth in the road race that led over the route around Mälaren ; the Swedish team with Persson, Erik Friborg , Algot Lönn and Ragnar Malm won gold in the team championship. In 1920 in Antwerp he finished twelfth in the street race and won silver with the team ( Sigfrid Lundberg , Ragnar Malm, Harry Stenqvist ).
