Maurice Moucheraud

Maurice Moucheraud (born July 28, 1933 in Potangis ; † January 13, 2020 there ) was a French cyclist and Olympic champion in cycling .

Athletic career

He had his greatest sporting success at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne . There he won the gold medal in the team competition in road races with Michel Vermeulin and Arnaud Geyre . In the individual Olympic race he was classified in 8th place when Ercole Baldini won . In 1955 he was second behind André Darrigade in the French championship in the road race of amateurs .

From 1957 to 1962 he was active as a professional driver. A stage win in the Tour de l'Oise in 1957 was his most important success as a professional.
