Fernand Canteloube (born August 3, 1900 in Aubervilliers , † July 16, 1976 in Créteil ) was a French cyclist and Olympic champion in cycling .
In 1920 Fernand Canteloube started in the street race at the Olympic Games in Antwerp . In the individual classification of the race, which was held as an individual time trial , he finished third. In the team classification, for which the times of the best four drivers of a team were added together, he won the gold medal together with Georges Détreille , Achille Souchard and Marcel Gabillot .
After the individual time trial, Canteloube was initially called second. But then the jury decided to subtract the times some drivers had to wait at closed level crossings and Canteloube was dropped back to third place.
Then Canteloube became a professional . In 1922 he won the Polymultipliée , and in 1923 he was third in the overall ranking of the Critérium du Midi , after he had also won a stage. In 1923 he ended his cycling career.
