The KHD KG 275 B are two-axle diesel locomotives from the manufacturer Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz (KHD) from the model range from 1959 with cardan shaft drive , which were designed for light shunting and mainline service. Twelve copies were built from 1962 onwards and have been used by various companies. The type was also offered for various gauges from 900 mm to 1676 mm. Some locomotives are still preserved.

development

The designation KG 275 B means: K leinlokomotive with G elenkwellenantrieb, 275 hp engine power, BB B .

The dimensions of the locomotives correspond to the KHD KG 230 B series , of which a larger number was manufactured at the same time. The increased performance compared to this type was achieved in the KHD KG 275 B by a turbocharger .

A total of twelve locomotives were built and delivered to Germany

Other locomotives came to Italy , Tunisia and Spain .

technology

The locomotives have a central driver's cab and two front structures, one for the machinery and one for the auxiliary systems. The stems are bevelled and the chassis is equipped with a cardan shaft drive. There is a recess for the cooling water fan in the front stem.

A twelve-cylinder two-stroke diesel engine from KHD with an output of 275 HP was used as the drive motor, the output of which could be increased by 45 HP compared to that of the KHD KG 230 B by charging. The power is transmitted via a fluid transmission from Voith .

The locomotives of the Lam – Kötzting local railway were equipped with multiple controls.

commitment

Lam-Kötzting local railway

The company's last steam locomotives were replaced with the locomotives. They were used in shunting and for the transport of local goods trains. Thanks to the multiple control, the machines could also move heavy trains. They were introduced into the Regentalbahn in 1973, and in 1984 they were sold to Italy.

Hümmlinger circular path

The Hümmlinger Kreisbahn received a locomotive. It has been used by the Emsland Railway since 1993 . The locomotive received the NVR number 98 80 3439 002-7 D-EEB in the German vehicle settings register in 2007 .

Brinker Harbor

Two locomotives were sold to the works of the Brinker Hafen . One of them was sold abroad after 2000, the second was in the portfolio of the Havelländische Eisenbahn in 2008 .

Buchtal AG

One locomotive was sold to Buchtal AG in Schwarzenfeld , where it was in service until 1998. The machine was in service for various private companies well into the 2010s. The last pictorial document of the locomotive dates from 2017.
