KT Gorique (2018)

KT Gorique (* 1991 as Caterina Mafrici in Abidjan ) is a Swiss dancer , rapper and actress .

Life

At the age of eight, KT discovered the art of writing and rhyming and developed the ability to play with words. At the age of eleven, her family moved to Martigny and currently lives in Sion .

Because of her Ivorian and Italian parents, Gorique first came into contact with Afro music as well as reggae , soul , blues and RnB . She learned to dance at the age of four. This is where the foundation stone for hip-hop was laid.

In 2012 she won the international freestyle rap competition End of the Weak in New York as the first woman, the first Swiss woman and the youngest female winner .

In 2014 Gorique played the lead role of Coralie in Pascal Tessaud's film "Brooklyn" without ever having taken acting classes . The film won her at the Cannes Film Festival and the Best Interpretation Milan Film Festival . In November she won the sponsorship award of the Canton of Valais. At the award ceremony, as at every major performance, she appeared on stage with a painted face. In January 2018 she performed at the “Bounce Cypher” and a few days later at the Swiss Music Awards despite being ill with a fever of 39 degrees .
