Kaštiliaš III.

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kaštiliaš III. was a Kassite king of Babylon . Its exact government dates are unknown. According to the Babylonian King List , he was the successor to Burna-buriaš I. His successor was his brother Ulam-buriaš .

Landsberger wants to interpret the name as a "strong son". He sees the name, like Agum , as a “lead name”, pairs of names that are passed on from grandfather to first-born grandson. Kaštiliaš III. is one of the three known bearers of the name and the only one who certainly functioned as ruler of Babylonia.
