Cabinet Kandil

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The cabinet of the Egyptian Prime Minister Hisham Kandil was presented on August 2, 2012. Kandil was appointed by President Mohammed Morsi after the resignation of Prime Minister Kamal Ganzuri and his cabinet appointed by the Military Council . In the wake of the military coup on July 3, 2013 , the Kandil cabinet was no longer able to continue its regular work. On July 9, Hisham Kandil's successor Hasim al-Beblawi was appointed Prime Minister; the successor cabinet under his leadership was sworn in on July 16, 2013.

The Kandil cabinet consisted of 35 ministries. The composition of the government consisted mainly of technocrats , including members of the Freedom and Justice Party ( Muslim Brotherhood ), the moderate al-Wasat party , the civilization party and the Salafist el-Nahda party .

After the resignation of Transport Minister Mohamed Raschad al-Matini on November 17, 2012, Minister of Communication and Information Technology Hani Mahmoud on December 25, 2012 and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Mohamed Mahsub on December 27, 2012, a cabinet reshuffle took place on January 5, 2013 , with ten new ministerial posts. The swearing-in of the new members of the government took place on January 6th. During this period, the Morsi government prepared itself for upcoming negotiations with the International Monetary Fund and economic reforms.

On May 7, 2013, another cabinet reshuffle was carried out, during which nine ministers were replaced. This step was made necessary, among other things, by the resignation of Justice Minister Ahmed Mekki on April 21, who had refused to "clean up" the judiciary at the request of the Muslim Brotherhood. But not only the Minister of Justice should be replaced soon. Apparently, a certain dissatisfaction with the progress of negotiations with the International Monetary Fund prompted President Morsi and Prime Minister Kandil to replace the Minister for Planning and International Cooperation and the Minister of Finance. Even the minister, who was most recently responsible for investments, did not keep his office. The new ministers were sworn in on the day the cabinet was reshuffled.
