Essebsi cabinet
The Essebsi cabinet was the third government in Tunisia since the overthrow of the autocrat Ben Ali during the 2011 revolution . The cabinet was presented on March 7, 2011 as a transitional government and replaced the Ghannouchi II cabinet . It was headed by Prime Minister Beji Caid Essebsi and was responsible, among other things, for stabilizing the political situation that had been disordered by the revolution and for organizing democratic elections.
These first democratic elections in the country took the form of the November 2011 election to a constituent assembly . This meeting replaced Essebsi as prime minister on December 24, 2011 by electing Hamadi Jebali of the moderate Islamist Ennahda as the new head of government.
composition
The cabinet (apart from Prime Minister Essebsi) consisted only of technocrats who did not hold high political offices under Ben Ali. Several members of the opposition left the government because membership in the cabinet made it compulsory not to vote in the elections for the constituent assembly and president.
