Kai Hammermeister
Kai Hammermeister (born July 15, 1967 in Göttingen ) is a German philosopher and literary scholar. He is a professor of philosophy and literature who teaches at Ohio State University in the United States.
Life
Hammermeister studied philosophy, modern German literature and rhetoric at the University of Tübingen , a. a. with Walter Jens and Manfred Frank . In 1995 he did his doctorate at the University of Virginia (USA) with Richard Rorty and was subsequently a lecturer there. Hammermeister completed a psychoanalytic training in the tradition of Jacques Lacan in New York City. From 1998 to 2015 he was a professor at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
His main research interests are psychoanalysis, aesthetics and hermeneutics.
Hammermeister has been working as a psychoanalyst in his own practice in Berlin since 2016.
