Kai Harada ( Japanese 原田 海 , Harada Kai ; born March 10, 1999 in Kanagawa , Japan ) is a Japanese sport climber . He took first place in bouldering at the 2018 World Championships in Innsbruck .

Career

Kai Harada started his career in competitive climbing in 2015 and in the same year took second place in the youth bouldering world championship and in the Asian youth championship in bouldering and lead . In 2016 he managed to take first place for his age group at the Asian Cup. In the same and the following year, he already competed in various World Cups for adults, but did not come out on a fifth place in 2017. In 2018 he took third place in the junior world championship in bouldering and lead climbing and won the world championship in bouldering in September. In the new discipline of combination , he took fourth place.
