Kai Saaler (born December 7, 1986 in Bad Säckingen ) is a German mountain biker who specializes in ultra marathons .

Saaler is both world champion and European champion in 12h and 24h mountain biking as a solo rider. He won numerous 12-hour and 24-hour races, including the MTB race in Finale Ligure (2018). Saaler has been committed to multiple sclerosis sufferers for years and would like to draw attention to this nervous disease with his extreme endurance races . In 2019, he organized a 24-hour MTB altitude difference world record attempt , ridden 9,774.19 meters in altitude within 12 hours and 17,391.71 meters in altitude on a mountain bike on unpaved trails within 24 hours. With the record attempt, donations were collected for the AMSEL Foundation in Lörrach. The extreme sport operates Saaler as a hobby and work in production development at Hella . Nevertheless, he pursues his hobby professionally and, for example, built one of the lightest (6.1 kg) mountain bikes in the world together with his equipment suppliers. In 2018, Saaler and his team of supervisors founded their own non-profit association in order to continue to pursue competitive sport at an international level. To KS Endurance e. V. includes two physiotherapists , a sports and nutrition therapist , and two technicians in order to be able to cover all facets of the racing team. In 2019 Kai Saaler was one of the most published mountain bike riders in Germany and thus managed to place the ultra-distance scene in the public eye. In his record attempt in 2019, he thrilled thousands of viewers who celebrated his sport together with bands like Sameday Records (known from Voice of Germany ). In the same year he won the unofficial German 24h MTB championship at Alfsee , achieved the 12h MTB Vieze European championship and only one week later a new lap record at the legendary 24h MTB race in Schötz ( Switzerland ).
