Kai Stolze (born September 2, 1967 ) is a former German handball player and coach . As a player he was active in the Bundesliga for TSV GWD Minden .

Career

Stolze moved from TSV Rothenuffeln to TSV Grün-Weiß Dankersen at the age of eleven and joined the squad of the second team in 1986 after the A-youth, with whom he celebrated promotion to the top division in his second year. Then he was an integral part of the second division team. In August 1994 he tore his right Achilles tendon in a test match and was out for half a year. After his recovery he rose with the team in the Bundesliga and completed his only season in the highest German class in the 1995/96 season. GWD signed the Swede Johan Petersson and he moved to Bundesliga relegated VfL Bad Schwartau . He was promoted again two years later in 1998. Stolze joined the upper division Ahrensburger TSV with whom he rose to the regional league in 2003 and 2005 after relegation had to be accepted in 2004. During the 2002/03 season he was diagnosed with cartilage damage in his knee. Due to the good chances of promotion, however, he played the season to the end and only then had an operation. This injury prevented Stolze from playing handball several times and so he was only used sporadically in his last season. In 2005 he ended his career. From 1999 to 2002 and from 2014 to 2016 he also coached the second team of the Ahrensburg TSV.
