Pär Johan Petersson (also known as Johan Pettersson ; born March 29, 1973 in Karlshamn ) is a former Swedish handball player . He played in the right winger position . He is currently working as a handball trainer.
Career
He began his handball career at IK Sävehof , after which he moved to GWD Minden in 1996 , where he stayed for a year. In 1997 he moved to HSG Nordhorn for four years . Finally, he accepted an offer from THW Kiel and in 2001 also became a "zebra". He stayed there for four years until he was offered an offer at the handball school that appealed to him because of his professional prospects. He went on the floor 199 times for Kiel and scored 1,097 goals (an average of 5.5 goals).
With the THW Kiel he celebrated successes such as the German championship in 2002 and 2005, and was EHF cup winner . With the Swedish national handball team , he won the silver medal at the 1996 and 2000 Olympics , was world champion in 1999 and second at the 2001 World Cup . He was also elected to the League Allstar Team in 2001/02 and 2002/03. Petersson left the national team in January 2005 and was brought back to the three-crown team in 2007. He played a total of 250 international matches for Sweden and scored 815 goals.
He is currently working as a handball teacher at a high school in Jönköping in Sweden. In addition, he played and trained his club IF Hallby Handboll. He barely missed promotion to the elite series . After a botched start to the season, Hallby separated from Petersson in November 2008. He then played for the Swedish first division club Alingsås HK . Petersson won the Swedish championship with Alingsås HK in 2009. Petersson ended his career a year later. Due to a series of injuries, Petersson helped out at the Swedish first division club IFK Kristianstad for the beginning of the 2010/11 season. In April 2012 he was signed by TuS N-Lübbecke for the last league games of the season and the Final Four in Hamburg. In May 2015, HSV Hamburg signed him to compensate for the injury-related loss of right wingers Hans Lindberg and Stefan Schröder . Peterson tore in his first race for the HSV Hamburg in the EHF European Cup the Achilles tendon .
He is 1.81 meters tall and weighs about 81 kg. He has a son and a daughter with his wife Sofia.
Petersson took over the coaching position of the German third division club HSV Norderstedt in the summer of 2017, who withdrew his team before the start of the 2017/18 season. In the 2018/19 season he was assistant coach for the Swedish second division club Kungälvs HK. In the summer of 2019 he took over the coaching of the women's team at Kärra HF, which also competes in the second highest Swedish league.
