Life

In Hamburg he attended elementary school and high school. After completing basic military service in Lüneburg and Hamburg in 1983 , he studied law at the University of Hamburg . From 1990 he worked in a planning office and has been managing director of unemployment telephone assistance in Hamburg since January 2010.

Voet van Vormizeele has been married since 1983 and has two children. He is active in the Protestant Church. He is a member of the town hall kickers. In addition, he chairs the board of trustees of the "Young & Old" association.

In 1976 Kai Voet van Vormizeele joined the Junge Union and in 1978 the CDU . From 1978 to 1982 he was chairman of the Junge Union Barmbek / Uhlenhorst . He was a member of the board of the CDU Uhlenhorst / Hohenfelde from 1990 to 2014 and was also its chairman between 1998 and 2014. After the citizenship and district assembly elections in 1982 he was elected citizen in the environmental committee of the district assembly Hamburg-Nord . In 1983 he also became a member of the Barmbek / Uhlenhorst local committee.

In 1986, Voet van Vormizeele was elected district representative in the elections. He represented the districts of Uhlenhorst and Hohenfelde in the Hamburg-Nord district assembly. He worked there for the CDU parliamentary group as a specialist in the fields of environment and health and the airport. This elected him in 1991 as its chairman.

On February 29, 2004 in the general election , he was elected to the state parliament. In this committee he was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group and deputy chairman. From June 2005 on, he also held the position of chairman of the special civic committee “Administrative Reform”.

In March 2007, the members of the CDU in constituency 9 Barmbek-Uhlenhorst-Dulsberg elected him as the top candidate for the 2008 state election . In February 2008, he entered parliament again through this constituency in the general election.

In the 18th electoral term of the citizenship, he was a member of the Legal and Constitutional Committee and, from 2008, chairman of the newly formed Constitutional and District Committee. For the CDU parliamentary group, he took on the role of spokesman for the areas of data protection and the constitution .

In the 20th electoral term in 2011 he was re-elected to the parliament for constituency 9 Barmbek-Uhlenhorst-Dulsberg . There he was domestic policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group, chairman of the parliamentary control committee and deputy chairman of the G10 commission. He is a member of the executive committee of his group. In addition to the Interior Committee, Voet van Vormizeele is also a member of the Constitutional Committee and the Health Committee.

In June 2014 he was defeated by Stephan Gamm when drawing up the constituency list for the 2015 mayor elections and is no longer a member of the citizenry in the current legislative period.

After riots in Hamburg, Kai Voet van Vormizeele called for the introduction of registrant liability for demonstrations, because, according to him, "it is not to be seen that taxpayers have to collectively pay for the sick leisure time of a few psychopaths".
