Kai Weyand
Kai Weyand (* 1968 in Freiburg , Breisgau ) is a German writer .
Life
Kai Weyand graduated from the Freiburg University of Education . He was a teacher a. a. Active in the school for educational assistance "Schubs" of the Freiburg Orphanage Foundation and in adult education. From 2001 to 2005 he ran the Freiburg literature office together with Martin Gülich . Since 2005 he has been living as a freelance writer in Freiburg. In 2006 he took part in the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition in Klagenfurt .
Kai Weyand is an author of narrative works. He received u. a. In 2002 first prize in the literature competition " Open Mike " of the Berlin literature workshop and in 2004 first prize in the competition " Irseer Pegasus ". On November 28th, 2009, Weyand received the London Scholarship from the German Literature Fund and became Writer in Residence at Queen Mary University for ten weeks .
His novel Applaus für Bronikowski , published in 2015, was included in the longlist for the German Book Prize 2015.
