Kaitlyn Alexander (born October 9, 1992 in Ottawa , Ontario ) is of Canadian nationality, works in the film industry, writes screenplays and devotes himself to the art of acting .

Life

Alexander grew up in Ottawa and initially wanted to study medicine, but discovered an interest in acting through a course at school. From 2010 to 2014 Alexander studied Theater and Drama Studies at the University of Toronto Mississauga and at the same time completed an acting training at Sheridan College in Toronto.

Private life

In 2015, Alexander declared himself a genderqueer (non-binary: neither clearly man nor woman) and claims the English gender-neutral pronoun they (not translatable in German). Media reports also use this type of formulation.

Career

Alexander became known internationally for portraying LaFontaine in the Carmilla web series ; LaFontaine is represented as non-binary. For the tweets to show Alexander in 2014 received at the AfterEllen Visibility Awards Audience Award "Favorite Tweeter". In the movie The Carmilla Movie , which is based on the web series, Alexander plays S. LaFontaine again. The film was shown in select Canadian cinemas on October 26, 2017.

Alexander also invented and produced the web series Couple-ish , wrote the screenplay for it and played the lead role. The main character Dee is based on Alexander's own life. Couple-ish was nominated for the Streamy Award in 2015 for “Best Indie Series” .

In 2016, Alexander portrayed Full out Max in five episodes of the miniseries and appeared in Laurence Made Me Cry's music video Melete that same year . Alexander also moderated the Orphan Black podcast.

In January 2019 Alexander released a music album called Time Tells , produced by Erik Solarski. Alexander composed the music, sang and wrote the lyrics for the five songs.
