content
Hyakkaou Private School only educates children from very wealthy and influential parents. And since they have already learned most from their private tutors, they are trained in strategy, cunning and looking through the opponent at the school mainly through gambling. Their reputation in school changes according to their gains and losses. With the student council president Kirari Momobami, another element was added: Anyone who gambled away too much money and cannot pay their contribution to the student council becomes the slave of the other students. This is the first to hit Ryota Suzui, who loses a lot of money to Mary Saotome.
Shortly after Ryota's defeat, Yumeko Jabami joins the class. The girl seems very naive and Ryota wants to protect her. But in the first game against Mary, the initially inexperienced-looking Yumeko shows that she can see through her opponents and finally beat them in the game. Ryota is freed from his slave role by her. From then on, Yumekos played against her classmates again and again, in which she had to get to know new games and was supported by Ryota.

reception
The anthologies each sold over 100,000 times in Japan in the first few weeks after publication.
In Tagesspiegel , the manga is recommended primarily for fans of No Game No Life or “Play-or-Die” plots, even if it is still unclear whether the series can keep the tension of the first volume. The story creates “a merciless class society whose secrets and morally questionable functioning are gradually being dragged to the light of day” and which is being dismantled by the protagonist Yumeko - without her pursuing lofty goals, but only out of the joy of playing. Some of the games are just as absurd and absurd as the stakes. The story is told using classic film techniques such as strong zooming and shot-counter-shot cuts, which are also common in similar series about games. The mostly digitally created drawings showed individual facial features and pronounced facial expressions and gave a "matching high-gloss casino look" that also came across as somewhat sterile.
