Kalangat , also Calangute , is a city in the Indian state of Goa . It is known for its beach and is a tourist destination.
The city is that part of the North Goa District . Kalangat has the status of a Census Town . The city is divided into 1 wards (constituencies).
Demographics
The city's population is 13,810 according to the 2011 census. Kalangat has a gender ratio of 918 women per 1000 men and thus a common surplus of men for India. The literacy rate was 88.2% in 2011. Almost 47% of the population are Christians , around 46% are Hindus and around 7% are Muslims and around 1% belong to another or no religion. 9.2% of the population are children under 6 years of age.
economy
The beach is the largest in North Goa and is frequented by thousands of local and international tourists alike. The main travel season is around Christmas and New Years and in summer in May. During the monsoon season from June to September, the seas can be rough and swimming is prohibited.
