Kalasantines

The Kalasantines ( Latin : Congregatio pro operariis a S. Josepho Calasanctio , German: Congregation for the Christian Workers of Saint José Calasanz of the Mother of God , abbreviation : COP ) are a Roman Catholic male order .

Congregation

The Austrian priest Anton Maria Schwartz founded the congregation on November 24, 1889 in Vienna to alleviate the plight of the young workers and apprentices, and was the superior general until his death on September 15, 1929 . In 1939 he was approved by the Holy See .

Father Anton Maria Schwartz was beatified by Pope John Paul II in Vienna in 1998 .

The order is currently working mainly in Austria . There is also a branch in the Brazilian Mission . Until 2015, the motherhouse was in Vienna XV with the local church Maria vom Siege am Gürtel . The main areas of work of the Kalasantines are workers' pastoral care, religious instruction in vocational schools, pastoral care outside of school, youth evangelism and the management of parishes .

Disciplinary Sisters

In 1979 the Sisters of the Disciples' Search were founded. In 1988 they were recognized by the Archdiocese of Vienna and in 1998 they were affiliated to the Kalasantines as a second order.
