Kalle Granath

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kalle Granath (born April 12, 1975 ) is a Swedish football coach and former player.

Granath was head coach at Västerås SK (VSK) in the 2010 and 2011 seasons and led the team back to professional football after being promoted to Superettan after five years of abstinence. Granath's assistant coach was the still active midfielder Stefan Bärlin , who is also a close (youth) friend of Granath and who played with him for years. Before Granath became head coach, he was the assistant coach of Hans "Hansken" Johansson at VSK for one season and since 2006 has also been active as a youth coach in the club. For three years in a row he led his class to the Swedish championship finals.
Before he was appointed head coach at Västerås SK, the avid fly carrier Kalle Granath was a full-time teacher of mathematics and physics at Skiljeboskolan in Västerås . On June 23, 2011, Granath was released after the team took only nine points from 13 games and lost the last four games. He was succeeded by Erik Acar , who until then had coached the women's team at Gideonsbergs IF .
As a player, Granath made it to the first Swedish league ( Allsvenskan ) with Östers IF from Växjö . The long-time VSK player also tied his football boots for Enköpings SK .
