Kallis (potter)
Kallis ( Greek Καλλίς ) was an ancient Attic potter who worked at the beginning of the 5th century BC. Was active.
Kallis' name can be found on the shard of a red-figure vessel that was found on the Acropolis . It was consecrated there by Kallis himself to Athena Hygieia . From the painting only a shield with a snake as a shield sign and vestiges of clothing remain. In addition to a dedicatory inscription by the potter Euphronios , the inscription on the shard is the oldest evidence of this cult, which has also been handed down by Plutarch . The inscription is in a very ancient script, so the theta still had a cross.
