museum

The museum was opened on July 16, 1992 and is housed in the replica of the orangery of the Ismaning Palace in the Ismaning Palace park . The classicist building on the same site from the early 19th century was demolished in 1983 and rebuilt from 1991 to 1992. Once a year, the founder Hans Jürgen Kallmann is presented in an extensive presentation. In addition, works of modern and contemporary art are shown in around three to four changing exhibitions per year.

In 2005, the American artist Matt Mullican designed the work Topiary for the museum on the occasion of the Federal Garden Show in Munich . The work consists of beech hedges laid out like a labyrinth in front of the museum and 15 sculpturally cut beech trees that function as a guide system to the museum.

Concerts

In addition to the exhibitions, the museum regularly organizes concerts. In the concert series "Jazz im Kallmann", which ran from 1995 to 2015, the focus was on jazz music . Since 2016, the series has been continued under the title “Concerts in Kallmann”, which takes into account the ever-expanding musical genres.
