Matt Mullican

Matt Mullican (born September 18, 1951 in Santa Monica , California ) is an American conceptual artist , sculptor, and art teacher.

Mullican studied at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) and obtained his BFA there in 1974 . In 2009 he was appointed professor at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg . As a guest lecturer, he has taught at Columbia University in New York, the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam , The London Institute , the Chelsea College of Art and Design and the Institute for New Media in Frankfurt am Main .

Mullican is part of The Pictures Generation group. Under this title he took part in a highly acclaimed exhibition in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2009 .
